The Anteaters ventured south to Mission Bay this past weekend for the Jeff Simon Memorial Regatta which hosted 8 schools, all divided up into a total of 22 teams for each A and B fleet. We had 16 sailors divided into 8 pairs of skippers and crews. Nick W., James H., Sam H., and Brian M. all skippered A fleet with their respective crews Deanne B., Hazel M., Kourtney R., and Nick P..Daniel D., Ellen S., Philip T., and Addie W. skippered B fleet with their respective crews Robin F., Carrie B., Frances L., and Mary Jane O. Light wind plagued the sailing conditions for the weekend, making for some slow sailing, and not to mention a bit of paddling (like I said, very light wind). Four races were completed on Saturday, while only three races were completed on Sunday due to even lighter wind conditions. Overall, the Anteaters sailed well, placing in 8th, 12th, 13th, and 16th. The light wind made for some challenging sailing but also led to great learning opportunities and skill sharpening, especially for some of the new sailors. We look forward to hosting our next regatta in Newport, February 14-15. Smooth sailing all and stay tuned!
