Stoney Burke Regatta - October 18th and 19th

Posted by Anteater Sailing Team on November 20, 2014 at 1:45 AM

The Anteaters started off their season with a trip up to Treasure Island for the Stoney Burke Regatta hosted by Berkeley. Team president Nicholas W. sailed Varsity A with crew Deanne B., while Varsity B was sailed by Sam H. and his crew Daniel D.. Brian M. sailed JV A with crew Dominic B. and JV B was sailed by James H. and crew Mykha P. The Anteaters were excited for some windy NorCal sailing but San Francisco had other things in mind. Saturday had clear skies and barely any wind until the afternoon. Luckily when the wind picked up it turned into a steady 7-8 knot breeze with gusts from 12-15 knots. The anteaters got some good races in. Sunday was a similar scenario with races postponed for 3 hours. Around 1230 the wind filled in and we had a steady 10-15 knot westerly. There were 46 boats at Stoney Burke and the Anteaters were excited by the many close races they had. Varsity A finished 17th and Varsity B finished 7th. JV also did well with JV A finishing 9th after a tie-breaker and JV B finishing 12th. Overall the Anteaters did well and and cant wait to see what will be in store for them at their next regatta in Santa Barbara. Stay Tuned…
