This past weekend, four of our sailors went up to San Francisco to sail the Saint Francis Interconference Regatta, the last step to qualifying for PCC’s. Brian Hoover with crew Kate Andersen sailed A and Sam Heller with crew Will Larsen Sailed B. The conditions were tough consisting of almost a four knot flood, choppy waters, and a 5-10 knot breeze in the morning. As the wind built the current switched to a strong ebb forcing all the teams to completely change the way they sail. At the end of Saturday, we were in fourth only a few points out of second place after 6 races for each fleet.
Sunday’s conditions were not what anyone was expecting. The winds were light and variable with no definite direction all day. Heavy rain throughout the day made it even more interesting as races were attempted to be made before the wind would change its direction or shut itself off. After three very long races in each fleet, the anteaters moved to seventh place out of 27 overall and the fifth place PCCSC School!
