Rose Bowl Regatta

Posted by Anteater Sailing Team on January 12, 2015 at 11:10 AM

The Anteaters traveled to Long Beach for the first regatta of 2015. Saturday started out with light breeze from the south so racing was postponed until 12:30 when the breeze started to fill in. Conditions were light and shifty for the first set, but steadily improved through out the day. Nick Weis and Deanne Buckman sailed A and Sam Heller and Kathryn Benight sailed B. Racing was very tight on the all-varsity course with teams from across they in attendance. Four races for both A and B were completed on Saturday and the team wrapped up the day in 14th place out of 30 teams. Sunday’s racing conditions were pretty similar to Saturday’s with light and shifty wind in the morning that grew to a steady sea breeze. Another four races were sailed for each division and the team maintained its position to finish 14th overall. All in all, it was a pretty good start to another year of sailing and the team is looking forward to their next competition in a few weeks!
